Pileated Woodpecker (Dryocopus pileatus)

I took this picture today 2 miles northwest of Fayetteville. I have been waiting a long time for a good look at one of these enormous woodpeckers.

According to CLO:

Nearly as large as a crow, the Pileated Woodpecker is the largest woodpecker in most of North America. Pileated Woodpecker populations declined greatly with the clearing of the eastern forests. The species rebounded in the middle 20th century, and has been increasing slowly but steadily in most of its range. Only in Arkansas do numbers seem to be going down.

WTF is up with that, Arkansas!?!?

The pileated looks similar to the most likely exticnt Ivory-billed woodpecker.
